The kiss greeting thing is so awkward!

I decided to write on this topic cause its been disturbing me. AH! I live in a very very bilingual city and  kiss greeting is the order of the day. The first time i said hi to a a french african, she pulled me in and gave me two kisses on each cheek. Okay i thought this was extremely weird cause where I am from, you hug your close friends, shake you acquiantances or give a friendly wave. This happened in 010. Fastforward to 012, I got comfortable with the kiss greeting cause I attended a bilingual church  ( dominated by mostly french people) and this sorta greeting was a usual affair. It was not until yesterday I realized that i am still very uncomfortable with the kiss greeting. I guess i thought i was cool with it because i was around my church folk, which are people i see often and i've grown to know...
Last night a friend of mine introduced me to some of his french buddies and i was startled again when each person pulled me in again with the 'kiss greeting'. As in lol I was caught off guard the the first friend could only kiss one cheek. Then the remaining 3 friends got both cheeks (lol i remembered where i was). I came to realize that i am only comfortable french kissing my friends or acquiantances, not people i just met. I really wish i could just say no to people, when they wanna greet me that way. I guess that will be my next project (operation WAKGS- War against kiss greeting strangers) :|

I really wasn't raised to greet people that way at all. It is just weird, like how do you just put your lips on someone's face especially someone you just met, all in the name of greeting. Abeg a hug or a handshake will do. That's just too much invasion of personal space (i sound very northamerican, hey can't help it)

Black Opal? I just found out :|

Hi there :)

It's been a minute since i made a post but no need to fear your southeasterngyal is hurrrr. I am done

finals

and now job hunting and getting my weight loss journey on check is next on the agenda. I know..I

know i started a challenge but i had to delete it cause i wasn't serious. So yh. However once i get

myself in check ama post it. But ch'yallll please  tell me what rock i've been living in.... cause i just

discovered black opal :| This is how much of a newbie i am to this whole makeup werld! SMH.

This discovery started like so, a friend of mine gave me this amazing opportunity to be a

makeup artist for her wedding :D (yall that was supernatural news in my ears being that i loveee

weddings and makeup artistry). Anywho, I took the opportunity to build a minikit nothing to expensive

being that i just do this for fun. It was while brainstorming and researching, I discovered black opal,

black adiance and fashion fair <3. However, blackopal is what I actually went for since it was readily

avialable and affordable
My friend (asian_em) got these for me as birthday pressies (she said i should choose ) :) Since i was in

Nigeria at that time. So to the homie,i hail o :P. They They cost like $11-$12 and i am telling you this

foundation is good. The got hazel nut, nutemeg, beautiful bronze and black walnut.

Its light weight and matches black skin quite well. The only thing that threw me off was the "no pump"

affair cause this product can "weist" easily.

I mean it is just that light! She also got me the deluxe finishing powder in dark. Its pretty close to yout

mac msf. It sets the foundation pretty well. It comes in different shades just check out their website

I really hate the fact that they dont ship to canada!!!!!!! but issokia. If you like in Ottawa, "mama cee" is

ya friend!

Now for the juice.

:) :) :)

I used the products on my friend and they came out quite nicely on my friend. I forgot what colors are

mixed exactly (i think beautiful bronze and hazel nut). But the website is self explanatory as to what

color will match your skin. This is supposed to be a brides maid look....She didn't like the undereye

shimmer so we did some editing (last pic on the left).

Lids: Naked palatte by urban decay, "sin", 28 shadow and blush pallete and a deep brown my 88 matte palatte. Lower lid (Silvery color from my 88 palatte). I really wish colors by bh cosmetics had names :(

28 shadow and blush pallete
(BH cosmetics)
Eyes (liner): maybelline's eye studio gel liner in carbon, rimmel's exxagerate, great lash by maybelline

for mascara.

Face: Mac prep and prime face primer, black opal true color liquid foundation (hazel nut and beautiful bronze), black opal deluxe fnishing powder in deep.

Lips: lip combo ( sleek naked and kate moss rimmel long lasting finish in 101)

Cheeks: 28 shadow and blush pallete by Bh cosmetics

So ya overall blak opal just needs to get pumps for their foundation o! Cause the foundation dey real

liquidy no be small

Good alternative for those on a budget

Higher education= No marriage...since when?

It has gotten to that point in my programme where we are all thinking about the "next step", "now what" and "what next". I have always had a passion for working with mother and baby or working in delivery and with this comes the drive to go past undergrad into something much greater. So this is what happened o...

The otherday my professor gave a presentation on her master's thesis, afterwhich shes asked, "who is interested in a masters program?" A handful of my classmates raised hands (me inclusive) and then I heard a woman whisper to me "your gonna drive men away with your too much knowledge"

HIEY? see me see wahala? as pa..see me see cheese balls. The way I cringed at that statement was beyond me. Offcourse it was coming from african woman NOT a nigerian woman ( but woman from the central part of africa). I am very suprised that people pass through north america but have not allowed north america to pass through them.  Even at that there was no excuse for the comment because women back home (well in Nigeria) are high achievers and are married.

Like how do you tell a young girl in her early 20's such a thing? usually older women encourage younger women to aim higher. To be quite honest i found it funny and right there I was greatful for the supportive and higher achieving parents God put in my life (Cause my mom had never even uttered such a statement to me).

Beware of dream crushers, negative people and bad belle in general that is how they go sowing seeds. Kill it! Dont water it or let those sort of bad seeds grow

A higher education does not deprive a person of a fulfilling marriage or even marriage. God is the author and finisher! and His thoughts are always of good (Jeremiah 29vs11)

Busy with exams.....last one so i am hanging in there

Spring came knocking....

So on saturday, the sun was just too beautiful to go to weist but as usual canadian sun is nothing but a camouflage. Na when person reach outside you go know sey the sun na just decoration. In order news i have been begging this chica to be my muse for the longest time and finally it was a date! My friend was a bit skeptical about the colors cause she always played safe. But i had to reassure her that it would make sense lol. It did make sense right???

I introduce to you asian_em LOL! I can't say the real name for confidentiality reasons (i am a nurse at heart :P) but she's my homedawwgskilletz from back when......

Kachifuoh (goodnight)
My friend shared this song with me...thought I'd share it here. I really needed this :) Shoutout to RP!

Did you say candy?

Hi peoples,

This is just a public announcement which is to inform yall that I PASSED MY MENTAL HEALTH CLINICAL! yes i got my satisfactory, I ended the therapeutic relationship and I bounced out like a bause :D

Ok on to my main reason for posting. There is such a rave about mac's candy yum yum and it seems like the trend this summer is all about candy cotton lips. I don't follow trends but i i thought i'd try something more daring. I have big lips so a sharp color on my lips increases my lip size but pls why not. Every one has a thing here and there that is off. So, with this thought i bought the sleek "loved up" and "dare" to add to the lippie collecsion!

Dare does'nt have a long staying power so you would need to touch up alot and I suggest moisturizing lips with you fav lip balm before using the lippie

Love Up has a neon pink feel. It is a bright color. So beware. It is outside my comfort zone cause I like i said my lips are really full. I can't wait to try it on a look.It lasts longer than Dare

Generally they are good colors. I mean you can never go wrong with sleek lippies. Budget is $6-7. Loved up is also a sub for mac's candy yum yum. So if your a student and financially constrained sleek's loved up is ya best bet

Goodnight :)

Hello Abu dhabi (:

Today was my 2nd to last day of mental health rotation, so I decided to put on some professional makeup lol. I usually don't wear makeup for clinical rotation but this rotation has been the most chilled clinical ever.

Here is my "minimalist look" with a nude lip :)

I achieved the lips with Abu-dabi lol...thats the name of the lip cream

Nyx describes it as "it's not lipstick. nor is it gloss, it's like nothing you've experiences before. It's lipstick cream that goes om silky but looks soft matte".

I agree. It was like $8.99 from the drug store. Its hard to find Nyx in canadian drug stores though and if you do, you don't get the full nyx range if you know what I mean.

I like the lip cream. I am a glossy girl, so the the drying effect "matte effect" doesnt thrill me much but it's definitely an on-the-go nude lippie. (Just have a lip balm with you)

I advice moisturizing your lips before application cause applying this on cracked lips ain't cute one bit.

Abu dhabi is definitely my nude <3.

A wide range of colors are also available. So make your choice people.

The shoppers drug mart on rideau street has them in stock! for the OT people

Tomorrow is my last clinical rotation *now dancing cultural dance* hehehehe.

Mental health was challenging. I came, saw and I conquered (in Jesus name) and tomorrow i get my Satisfactory (in Jesus name).

Alright back to my bookworm life
